Carla Mejia
Regional Nutrition Advisor – WFP Regional Bureau
I feel passionate about food innovation and its effects on value chains, poverty alleviation and public health. Currently, I work in the world’s largest humanitarian agency fighting hunger worldwide. At WFP, I have had the opportunity to apply my expertise on the various aspects of the supply chain from food product development to commercialization. My job entails feasibility assessments of locally processed products, with special emphasis on specially nutritious foods within humanitarian contexts. It also aims at strengthening local capacities in the areas of general food processing, fortification and food safety assurance to prevent food quality/safety issues throughout the supply chains WFP enables.
