Bibi la Luz González

She is an advocate for food security, climate sustainability, and human rights. In 2016 she founded ‘Eat Better Wa’ik’ with the purpose of combating malnutrition in Guatemala, a concept that she wants to change, being recognized as a hero of the pandemic in the country.
The activist has impacted the lives of hundreds of children through programs that involve low and middle-income families in the production, purchase, preparation and consumption of their food in order to promote health and dignity.
The name of her organization, Wa’ik, means “eat healthy and nutritious food” in the Mayan K’iche language, a motto that Bibi de La Luz Gonzalez pursues with her heart to carry out the mission.
Through its foundation, educational programs, conferences, workshops, consulting services, food baskets, among other actions are given.
An international political economist by profession, Bibi La Luz returned to her country after living in nine different countries, which gave her the experience to get involved in this mission. With a mature look at 33, the young woman hopes to continue her preparation as a graduate student in Strategy and Innovation at the University of Oxford.
